My Writing Process

Creating with purpose
I developed a writing process that infused both copywriting and UX writing principles. It involved phases of research, writing, editing, and testing. I had daily check-ins with my mentor and CEO of the company. I also participated in morning meets every day with the design team and developers.

I use words to help people to solve problems, and have fun using the product.

At Etomon, I managed content audits, developed strategies based in research, conducted interviews, and tests. I also onboarded new team members on Etomon’s brand and strategy, led UX writing strategy for projects, and collaborated cross-functionally with team members.

Some of my favorite projects are

- Student home page - content audit on old site, landing page content

- Brand content guide - created mission, values, branding

- Teaching Room - weekly testing

- Instructor Sign Up flow - error messages, emails, landing pages

-Help articles - copyright, refund, and cancellation policies

Takeaways: What I learned

Addressing my biases—

During my experiences at Etomon and Google I learned to communicate effectively and efficiently while working with a team for the first time. Previously, my creative process in generating ads and/or design text was a solo venture or a partnership. At Etomon, the team worked together to discuss our different responsibilities and concerns at every step of the process. These meetings helped me to acknowledge my own biases, and write for a greater audience with different needs. I improved in empathizing with the goals and perspectives of others, and to justify my decisions with research. Most recently, I learned to leverage visual examples with a prototype in InVision to showcase my writing within the homepage. The designers better understood my rationale thus, providing more detailed feedback.
